Morning sessions yield quickest times

Juan Montoya's 27.385-second lap in Day 2’s morning session of Sprint Cup Series testing at PIR held up as the quickest circuit of the two-day "Cactus Trials" testing period, edging a 27.442-second lap by Paul Menard on Day 1 for top honors.

Montoya also turned in the third-best best lap, turning the Phoenix mile in 27.454 seconds on Monday morning. J.J. Yeley drove the fourth-quickest best lap, moving around the oval in 27.468 seconds.

Montoya’s Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Dodge teammate Reed Sorenson was also strong, turning in the No. 5 overall time during Monday morning’s session.
